An elegant voice with a great register and an actress living fully the characters she embodies, the soprano Caroline Bleau stands out both for the intensity of her stage presence and for her voice with a warm and brilliant timbre. She was a member of the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal from 2007 to 2010. Her major roles include Cio-Cio San (Madame Butterfly), Tosca (Tosca), Mimì (La Bohème), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus), Nedda (I Pagliacci), Carmen (Carmen) and Magda Sorel (The Consul). Her repertoire of sacred music is vast and includes among others the Requiems of Brahms, Duruflé and Verdi, the 7 Words of Christ by Dubois, the Petite Messe solennelle by Rossini, l’Enfance du Christ by Berlioz, the Gloria and the Stabat Mater by Poulenc. She has become a regular on Radio-Canada’s En direct de l’Univers.

In March 2017, she performed the role of “The Wife” during the world premiere of the opera Another Brick in the Wall by Julien Bilodeau on a libretto by Rogers Waters (Pink Floyd) in Montreal, in July 2018 in Cincinnati and November 2019 in Toronto. In November 2018, she performed her first Wagnerian role (Freia in Das Rheingold) at the Opéra de Montréal. This role marks a change of course for the soprano who is moving towards a more dramatic repertoire. In February 2020, she shone in the 4 female roles (Stella, Olympia, Giuletta and Antonia) in the opera Les Contes d’Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach.

She has worked notably with renowned chefs such as Alain Trudel, Kent Nagano, Jean-Yves Ossonce, Jean-François Rivest, Jean-Philippe Tremblay, Paul Nadler, Gianluca Martinenghi, Joey Pietraroia and Timothy Vernon.

Among her future projects are performances of her show “Libertango” with the Opus D2 collective and the taking of the role of Maria in the Opera-tango Maria de Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla, as well as learning important roles in the German repertoire, especially those of Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner.
