Tomás Azcárate was born in Buenos Aires in 1995. He plays the piano since he was seven. At eight, he began studying with Andrea Gallo following the Suzuki Method while attending the Collegium Musicum. He took several masterclasses with Caroline Fraser in Suzuki Festivals, and in 2008 was selected by the Suzuki Association of the Americas to take part in the Latin-American Ensemble in Minneapolis, MN, USA.

He continued his studies with Pi?a Sebastiani and, in 2012, obtained the first prize in the La Plata Cathedral Piano Competition. He consulted with Robert McDonald and Matti Raekallio in New York City and the next year moved to Vienna, where he studied for six months with Han-Gyeol Lie and took lessons with Christopher Hinterhuber.

He was a finalist in the Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition in Vienna, and after obtaining the Mozarteum Argentina’s scholarship for studies abroad, he continued his studies with Stephan Mo?ller in Vienna for two years.

In 2014, he won the Mari?a Rosa Oubin?a de Castro Prize held by the Pianistic Studies Center of Barcelona. During the following year, he took masterclasses with Llui?s Rodri?guez Salva?, and in Tarragona with Norah Doallo, in Brussels with Wolfgang Manz, and in Lo?wen with Alan Weiss. He also had lessons with Birgitta Wollenweber in Berlin and offered recitals in cities of Austria, Belgium, Catalonia and The Netherlands.

Once again in Buenos Aires, he continued his studies with Bruno-Leonardo Gelber who was his teacher for two years. During that time, he also offered recitals in the Teatro Soli?s of Montevideo, Uruguay, and Teatro Constantino and Usina del Arte in Buenos Aires. In 2017, thanks to the Carmen Scalcione Scholarship offered by the PSC, he took a masterclass with Nelson Goerner. He had his debut in France, Mexico and Brazil where he offered recitals in cities of the Sa?o Paulo State.

He also obtained a scholarship from the PSC which allowed him to have a number of lessons and masterclasses with Ingrid Fliter. In july, he won the second prize of the Scaramuzza Piano Competition of Buenos Aires and had a masterclass with Mari?a Cristina Vin?es. In Co?rdoba, he played recitals for the Chamber Music Season of Fundacio?n ProArte as well as in the cities of San Francisco and Alta Gracia, where he played in the Manuel de Falla House-Museum.

In 2019, Tomás was admitted to the Conservatoire de Montre?al’s artist degree with pianist Louise Bessette. Since then he has been living in this city, where he won the Concours de Concerto held by the Conservatory itself, which allowed him to play Prokofiev’s third piano concerto with the Orchestre Symphonique du Conservatoire de Musique de Montre?al at the end of 2020.
