Scott Brooks, Bass-Baritone

Scott Brooks is a recent alum of Opera de Montreal’s Atelier lyrique program. His performances with the company include Monterone (Rigoletto), Duke of Verona (Romeo and Juliet), and Man in Bar (Champion). His delivery of the role of Germano (La scala di seta) helped secure the production an Opus Award in 2019. Other recent appearances on the opera stage include Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) and Il commendatore (Don Giovanni) with the Festival d’opéra de Québec.

On concert stage, Scott’s repertoire includes Missa solemnis (Beethoven), Mass in D major (Dvorak), Requiem (Mozart), Messiah (Handel), and many more. Scott received his early training in opera at the University of British Columbia. He later travelled to Scotland to take a doctorate in English literature at the University of St Andrews. His professional debut was in the role of Schaunard (La Boheme) at the Wexford Opera Festival in 2010.
His Canadian professional debut was in the role of Dr Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro) with Vancouver Opera in 2017. In May 2021, Scott will return to Opera de Montreal as Dr Bartolo once again.
