Ian Sabourin was born and raised in Ottawa, where he began his musical training at eight years old as a boy soprano in the Christ Church Cathedral Choir, under the direction of Matthew Larkin. He went on to study music at University of Ottawa, studying with Christiane Riel, and completed his undergraduate degree in Vocal Performance at University of Toronto where he studied with Daniel Taylor. He is currently studying for his Master’s degree in Early Music at McGill University (with Annamaria Popescu).
Ian has performed such works as Duruflé’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, St. John Passion and Magnificat, Handel’s Messiah and Israel in Egypt, and the role of Damon in Handel’s Acis and Galatea. In 2021, Ian will release an album of Folk Songs with lutenist Kerry Bursey, and will perform the role of Arsace in Handel’s Partenope with Opera McGill.
