Soprano Ania Hejnar holds a Master of Music Degree and Bachelor of Music Degree from University of Ottawa.  While at University of Ottawa, and later as a member of Opera Lyra Ottawa’s Young Artists Program, she had the opportunity to perform several roles including Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen and soprano soloist in Brahms’ Requiem.  During her Master’s Degree, she was the Voice Minor Professor along with Teaching Assistant for the Calixa-Lavallée Choir directed by Laurence Ewashko.

After winning first prize in the Canadian Music Competition, Ms. Hejnar was invited to perform in numerous concerts with Orchestre Métropolitain in Montreal.  Her first place win in the Alexander & Buono International Voice Competition led to her Carnegie Hall debut. 

Ms. Hejnar has performed for former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, former Governor General Michaëlle Jean and for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau at the Official Portrait Unveiling Ceremony for the Right Honorable Paul Martin and the Special Olympics Ceremony. Ms. Hejnar also recently performed for Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mme. Julie Payette, for the Order of Canada Investiture at Rideau Hall, Ottawa. She currently performs the National Anthem for events at the Canadian Tire Centre for the Ottawa Senators and the TD Place including Redblacks, Fury and Ottawa 67’s games, and University of Ottawa Convocations.

Ania appeared on the oratorio stage in works such as Haydn’s Creation, Handel’s Messiah, Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor and Exultate Jubilate, Vivaldi’s Gloria and Schubert’s Mass in C.  She made her debut at the Maison Symphonique de Montréal as soprano soloist in Orff’s Carmina Burana under the direction of Michel Brousseau in April, 2018 and returned to that stage in December, 2018 as the Soprano Soloist for Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with Mundia Productions.  You can hear her voice on Remigio Pereira’s (former member of The Tenors) new solo album, VOX INAUDITO.
